Sam Taxwood

How many years have you been snowboarding?

16 years I believe

What´s your home mountain?

Snowbird, UT

What’s the reason you started snowboarding?

Friends I looked up to, as well as skating.

What’s the reason you keep on snowboarding?

Traveling with friends and it makes me happy!

What was your idea behind the Taxwood Jacket and Pant?

I wanted to design something simple yet reliable in variable conditions. Solid water proofing and a nice fit for your everyday snowboarder.

Whats up with the SILT colorway - where did that come from?

I just think it’s easy on the eyes and you don’t always see a minty looking color out in the hill these days.

Has your snowboarding changed since you filmed for the first Lick The Cat (LTC) Spring Break edit?

Haha Yes! I think it has for sure! I’ve reeled it in a lot as far as what I know I’m capable of riding and getting away with at spots, and I think I’ve just gotten stronger physically so that’s helped a lot.

You and basically your best friends (LTC crew) made movie this season, called Video Of The Year, and last year you came out with the opener of the Vans Landline Movie. What do both of those movies represent for you?

For the Vans project I basically focused all my time and energy into and I’m very proud of everyone involved, we all worked our asses off. The LTC vid that’s about to come out is a colab basically with all my best friends and we were able to travel around with the help of our sponsors to make something special and unique... it’s exactly what we’ve been wanting to do since we were kids so I’m so stoked it worked out!

Where can people watch these video parts?

Vans Landline is available on iTunes, and the LTC vid will be live sometime in November.

In what way do you want to give back or express yourself within snowboarding?

Going to the resort and riding with new people and all the young kids in Utah, and filming for specific projects with friends and people I look up to hopefully inspiring others to strap in someday as well.

Who are the people in snowboarding right now that keep you motivated and hyped on the current stat of snowboarding community and/or direction?

Anyone that seems to be doing it because it’s something they love to do, rather than getting paid the most money in the world to drive a fancy car or be the coolest person they know etc. etc. just be yourself rather than do something for anyone else for a some sort of financial or social benefit.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I want to thank my family, friends, and sponsors for the unconditional love/support!
